Digital Dope: On Second Thought App ((Celebrating Black Entrepreneurs in Tech)
This episode of Digital Dope! is bought to you by a lovely African American Founder, who has a vision of saving “drunk texters” from themselves. On Second Thought is an app created by a black woman who had a vision keep both spelling errors and reputations in check.
Have you ever sent a text message only to immediately regret it? We’ve all been there. Like, we have literally ALL been there. Fortunately, Founder and CEO Maci Peterson has the ultimate solution. On Second Thought allows you to recall text messages. The app brilliantly intercepts regretful text messages before the recipient has the chance to read them whether the recipient has the app or not. So, whether your goal is to recover from an embarrassing spelling mistake, to stop auto-correct from remixing your SMS, or to keep yourself from sending that “hey, big head” text to your ex in the middle of the night, On Second Thought might just be your favorite new go-to app.
On Second Thought allows you to either delete or edit a sent text message within 60 seconds. The app also has a “curfew” feature which when on, will stop text messages from being sent out until you’re back in your right mind the next morning. I bet there’s not a person alive that doesn’t wish they had this app available to them at one point or another.
Founder Maci Peterson knew she had a solid idea after she conducted an impromptu focus group with her friends that solidified the need for the solution she had in mind. Peterson entered a pitch contest at South by Southwest. She obviously impressed the judges as she took home the 1st place prize for the pitch competition. Peterson connected with college classmate Stewart Voit and they never had a second thought about moving forward with the idea. Pun intended.
While On Second Thought isn’t publicly available in the Apple Store, you can easily download the App from the Google Play store to give it a test drive. If you’re prone to “drunk texts”, bad grammar, or angry “words”, On Second Thought might just be the lifesaver you need. We hope this sister goes far with her innovative self.
